Seattle trip + Wedding fun

Nicole Voris

Recently Oliver and I got to travel up to Seattle for our friends' wedding.   Luckily one of my best friends also lives in Seattle so we got to spend a few days with her too!

We drove up a few days before the wedding.  A gorgeous road trip is a seriously undervalued way to travel.  It was incredible to watch the landscape change from desert to farms to mountains.  If you find yourself with a extra time I highly recommend driving up the west coast and seeing how dramatic the United States landscape really is.

Once in Seattle we spent a few days exploring the city.  We did the important tourist stops such as Gasworks park and Pike's Place Market.

I think my favorite area of the city though would have to Ballard.  This neighborhood has so many great bars and restaurants, all surrounded by fantastic murals and street art.

We went to a few great restaurants, but my favorite was Ballard Pizza Company.  I am a sucker for fancy artisan pizza and I love a restaurant with local beer and wine.

The wedding was Saturday afternoon.  It was for two of our friends who are both dancers with Ballet Austin.  Oliver and I got to see the early beginnings of their relationship, got to see them get engaged, and even took their engagement photos!  I'm so glad that we got to be there for their special day.  It was especially fun because we got to see them and a few more of our Ballet Austin friends who we hadn't seen in a year!

As I said in my last wedding guest post.  I love deciding what to wear for a wedding.  I really want to reflect the couple and their wedding.  When I think of Grace and Ian these are the words that come to mind: silly, fun, laughter, and kind. I wanted to wear something fun and bright to reflect that.  I ended up deciding to wear my favorite floral maxi dress.  I really resisted maxi dresses because I like showing off my legs, but I had no idea how glamorous a maxi dress can make you feel!! I wore gold flower dangle earrings and flat sandals for the ceremony.  I changed my shoes to nude heels for the reception.  There's nothing wrong with a fabulous shoe change!

Ian and Grace had a beautiful ceremony in a park overlooking the water.  They had a ton of bright flowers and their alter was made out of big paper flowers.  I felt like my dress was a perfect choice!

Their wedding was beautiful and it was wonderful to see them commit and declare their love to one another! Congratulations Ian and Grace Bethany!
